Gateway Canyon Preserve is situated on family-owned Vibbert Ranch in Central Oregon, 11 miles north of Madras, a little more than an hour outside Bend, and only 127 miles from Portland. For decades an upland bird hunting paradise, our bird habitat is planted sorghum, natural grasses, weeds, and cattails for pheasants, and sage flats and grass for chukars. Our terrain and personalized itineraries meet the needs and aims of all hunters, whether you prefer unguided hunting with your dogs, or sign up for a guided package. But that’s just half the story!

Guests will now have access to all that Rocker 3 Ranch has to offer, including deer and elk hunting, fishing on the ranch, or on guided trips along the wild and scenic Deschutes River. Six-stand clay shooting and Rocker 3’s upland game preserve add further opportunities for memorable outdoor adventure. Comfortable onsite lodging, meanwhile, is available for overnight stays or multi-day hunts. (And at day's end, you can unwind in the colorful onsite “Bitterbrush Saloon.”)

After operating the Preserve for more than 10 years, we’ve decided it’s time to hand over the reins to a new generation, represented by our longtime neighbor and veteran outdoorsman Darrell Ceciliani, who will oversee our newly combined and enlarged recreational offerings. A born and bred Central Oregonian, Darrell grew up working his family’s ranch and had a nine-year career in Major League Baseball before returning home to devote his life to the land he loves. We're confident that no one could be better qualified to take on the management role while maintaining the friendly hospitality that’s an honored tradition here at Gateway Canyon.

We also invite you to try your luck on one of the private lakes teeming with trout, crappie, blue gill, or bass. For big game, migratory, and upland bird hunters the opportunities are equally rich.

Mule Deer Hunting: Archery Package: $10,000 per person. Unguided access full 30 days. Guide available upon request with additional fees due. Maximum of 2 hunters.
Rifle Package: $5,500 per person. 4 days & 5 nights. Arrive Friday evening, hunt opening day (Saturday) through Tuesday. Food, drinks, and lodging is included. Fully guided.
Price is reduced by $500 per person for 4-man groups booked under the same name. No more than 4 persons per group.
Elk Hunting: Archery Package: $10,000 per person. Unguided access full 30 days. Guide available upon request with additional fees due. Maximum of 2 hunters.
Rifle Package: $7,500 per person. 4 days & 5 nights. Arrive Friday evening, hunt opening day (Saturday) through Tuesday. Food, drinks, and lodging is included. Fully guided.

50% deposit due at booking. *Non-refundable.
Balance due 30 days before arrival date.
If cancellation is made at least 30 days before the scheduled arrival date deposit may be used toward another hunt/activity.
*Deer & Elk hunts only–A full refund may be requested upon unsuccessful tag draw. If requested, your full deposit amount will be refunded within 60 days. Deposit may also be used toward the next available hunt.
Bunkhouse Rocker 3 Ranch offers the ultimate experience of staying in a cowboy bunkhouse located on a working organic cattle ranch. Designed for the adventurer who would like a roof over their heads with a real mattress, blankets, pillows, heat, TV, and an indoor bathroom. A perfect combination of cozy comfort, simplicity, and ranch living.
Bitter Brush Saloon The fully stocked bar/saloon is located on-site and is the perfect place to spend some late nights around the fireplace with good company. It also doubles as a great place to relax in the mornings with a hot cup of joe in hand.
