This old family farm has been in the Acee family for over 20 years where they operated a dairy and crop business.
In memory of the old days of pheasant hunting locally, the owner, Ron Acee, his father Sam, and their faithful dog Gus made a trip out to the Dakotas, which was the inspiration for the pheasant preserve beginnings on this beautiful 500+ acre property.
The terrain is managed with varied covers from corn, sorghum, sunflowers, and natural grass to plantations of evergreens, hardwoods, and extensive brush and hedge rows all offering a natural, challenging hunt.
With a love for shooting and a great place to do it, Vernon National has now become a full facility for your sporting recreation. Back around 2003, a few Promatic traps replaced an old hand thrower for some family fun.
In time friends were invited to join in the shooting and before long an area of woods was cleared for the set up of a 5-stand field. Over the next few years, a private little set-up grew into a busy little business.
It was decided to take this to the next level and build a sporting clay course. In 2008 a new state-of-the-art fully automated sporting clays facility with 10 stations was opened. We have 14 stations offering a wide variety of targets, some of which you will not see anywhere else.

Vernon National offers pheasant and quail hunting as it was back in the day of wild birds. Utilizing approximately 550 acres of hills, meadows, hardwoods, pine grooves, and old orchards. We offer private membership hunts, public hunts, handicap hunts, corporate outings, tower shoots, and a hunt that is as wild as it gets.

Member Hunts
A few ways to enjoy some great quail hunting right here in Central New York. Quail Club- Enjoy quail hunting with your dog, we put out your birds as you schedule – minimum 50 bird purchase Pheasant Members- per season: 50-150 birds- $13ea, 150-250-$11.50ea, 250+, $10ea (pre-pay minimum required) New Quail only members- per season: 50-150 birds $15 ea, 150-250 birds, $13.50, 250+, $12 ea Walk-on Hunts- min 10 birds, $20 bird, discounts on 25+ birds
Non-member Hunts
Public hunts are available Tuesday through Sunday during our pheasant hunting season. Hunts are 3 hours in the morning or afternoon. Call to book your hunt– the earlier the better. All hunters need to abide by our rules at all times.
Lunch is available, and the price is on request.

Pheasant hunt pricing: Hunts start at $250 for a half day, call for pricing and field availability $150 guide fee for one/two hunters, $50 each additional Cleaning – $2.00 per bird, breasted; Whole Bird – $3.00 For larger groups, please call us for pricing.
