Smoky River Outfitting, located in the Northwestern Region of Alberta, Canada offers moose hunts, elk hunts, mule deer bowhunts, whitetail deer hunts, and wolf & coyote hunts.
We are one of the most successful hunting outfitters in Alberta as far as potential and percentages of trophy big game taken. We have been in the outfitting business since 1997. We maintain a 90% opportunity on moose, elk, whitetail, and mule deer hunts. We owe our success to great guides, great hunters, and an abundance of big game in the hunting area.
Smoky River Outfitting offers Canada moose hunts Northwestern Alberta Canada. Since 1997 we have taken well over 200 bull moose and are operating at a 95% moose kill rate. We offer two hunts based out of our main lodge which is one of the only pieces of private property in our huge wildlife management area.
This hunt is done during the rut in mid September so bulls can be called in close, we also take advantage of springs and wallows. This is a great opportunity for a P&Y moose.
This is a high success moose hunt that is run out of our main lodge Sept. 24-Oct. 15 during the peak of rut, so bull moose cooperate well with our calling. This hunt also takes place in a high density of moose where bulls will average 40 inches wide.

We offer these trophy moose hunts during the rut in absolute premium units in the province of Alberta. This hunt takes place in the foothills on the edge of the mountains and many provincial parks. A very limited number of tags are issued in these areas the few we have are guaranteed licenses. This is a rigorous mountain hunt, it is not for everyone!!!
For this moose hunt we travel to the hardest spots to access in our area, some are up to 2 hours from our main lodge. We use a variety of camps which include trappers cabins, outfitter tents, campers and a portable refer van. These areas hold bigger moose on average due to their remoteness or hard accesses for resident hunters. Our goal is for moose 50 inches and up. This is a harder hunt for experienced hunters with a 85% success rate.

We have excellent combination hunts during peak seasons only that are sure to make every big game hunter happy. We pride ourselves on being top-notch guides and putting all of our hunters in prime hunting areas. These are the only combination hunts available due to the seasons and areas where animals share habitat.

Wolf & Coyote Hunts - $100.00

Our lodge consists of six bedrooms, dining room, full kitchen and two washrooms. We are located along the Simonette River on 70 acres of private land. It is one of the only pieces of private land in a zone approximately 100 miles by 150 miles of big bush country. This is one of the best hunting zones in Alberta with lots of species to hunt.
On some of the hunts we may go to spike camps consisting of a camperized go anywhere bus, or portable plywood cabins, and outfitter tents, just depending on accessibility and what the hunter prefers. We have a full time cook that prepares home cooked meals and treats. The cook prepares all meals for spike camps as well.

Cancellation Policy:
In the event of a client cancellation or postponement, deposits for bookings may be transferred to another individual but will not be refunded. In the event that we (the Outfitter) have to cancel your trip you will have the option to transfer your deposit to another hunt or receive a full refund.
