The weather conditions in Saskatchewan can greatly impact a waterfowl hunt, being properly prepared is the key to a comfortable, enjoyable hunt.
Average temperatures for the mont of April are lows of 29 and highs of 52
Average temperatures for the mont of May are lows of 39 and highs of 65
Average temperatures for the month of September are lows of 39 and highs of 72
Average temperatures for the month of October are lows of 26 and highs of 58
Typically we get very little rain throughout the fall hunting season, however we can count on at least 2 or 3 rainy day hunts throughout September and October. Prairie Limits Outfitters always hunt rain or shine, so come prepared to weather some rain if need be. There is always a chance of snow in Canada, particularly in the latter part of October so come prepared to hunt in below freezing temperatures.
A high quality, moisture wicking long underwear is a must for every hunter, we highly recommend wearing two layers of clothing for typical hunting conditions and bringing a third outer layer for those extra cold, frosty mornings. Bringing a baseball style cap as well as a beanie will keep you covered in both hot and cold conditions. Footwear is critical in the cold as laying in a goose blind for an extended period of time can cause toes to freeze, if you do not want to bring two sets of footwear a good idea is to bring an extra pair of heavy socks or heat packs to add to the boots if needed. Having a small backpack or blind bag with you helps when you need to add or remove layers.
Be prepared for both warm and cold weather, to ensure you get the most out of your waterfowl hunting experience in Canada. For clothing, bring lots of layers, gloves, headgear and footwear suited to waterfowl hunting and our unpredictable weather conditions.
Before you're trip, please take a moment to fill out the below forms. If you're transporting a firearm into Canada from the States, please fill out the Non-resident Firearm Declaration, and be sure to carry this with you when crossing the border.
