Guided Canada Goose and Duck Hunts in Minnesota

You may ask why should I hunt with First Flight Finishers and how are we different than other guide services. We are a guide service that offers 50+fields (and an additional 50 private water locations for some duck hunts) that we guide out of to hunt in MN including 5 golf courses. By having these locations, we can more easily locate to where the geese & ducks are flying and put you where the birds are in. We have fields that are consistent early & as the geese move out to the exterior, we have fields farther out to accommodate late season hunting. No one else has these accommodations to the degree we do. Also with having the access to all these fields, we have instilled a policy that if your hunting with us and it was a poor day, we give you an option to hunt the afternoon with us or come back another day at a reduced rate. Obviously you can’t guarantee hunting success every time you hunt, but we feel very confident with our success in the past and our commitment to our hunters. We can ensure you the best hunting opportunities in the country.

The areas that we hunt can hold 100k+ birds during waterfowl season year in and year out. We hunt were the birds want to be, so we could be in a blind, a layout boat, or a ground blind. With our waterfowl hunting experience we are going to make sure you have a memorable day. We have the opportunity to harvest every species of waterfowl that travel through the Mississippi and central flyway.

What to bring: Face mask, shells (2 shot or larger), gun and case, possibly warm clothes/gloves, camera if you would like, drink/snacks of your choice, bag to hold your gear, if you have a dog you want to hunt with it please let us know, MN small game license, $4 early/late goose stamp, MN and federal duck stamp.

On a typical day of hunting you will arrive at the designated area (wetland or field depending on the type of hunt) 1 hour prior to shooting time. This will give you a chance to get situated in the hunting location and your guides can answer any questions you may have pertaining to the hunt. We generally hunt until 12pm, however as the weather turns colder, we may hunt later, because the birds have a tendency to fly later. Your opinions and our guides discretion will determine the length of the hunt. With the use motion and full body decoys, state of the art techniques and experienced callers, our guides land geese & ducks.

Outfitter Adam Johnson has been successfully guiding spring snow goose hunters for over 15 years now and has the experience and dedication to make sure you have a quality hunt. Adam has well over 40,000 acres of private property at his disposal in these areas to assure you will be hunting fresh fields full of geese on your hunt.

Items you need to bring- Non-toxic shotgun shells (preferably 3” steel 2 shot or BB’s), camo clothing, facemask, waterproof boots. Waders are not necessary but nice if muddy. Also, willingness to help with the decoy spread. We require anyone who is able to help.
Bird Cleaning- Bird cleaning is the hunter's responsibility. The law requires a wing needs to remain attached. We have bird cleaning for a fee ($3/bird) if needed. Storage of the cleaned birds is the hunter's responsibility (most use large coolers).
Payment- One person in your group needs to be the contact person (email address & cell phone number needed). They will be the one sending me payment and receiving any other communications concerning the hunt. A deposit of 50% is due within 2 weeks of booking your hunt. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable (if a hunter cannot make the trip it is acceptable to replace them with someone else as long as the party size remains the same). If you can't make the hunt and can't find a replacement you forfeit the deposit. The 2nd half of the payment is due the morning before your first days hunt. If we have to cancel the hunt the deposits will be applied to a future hunt during the remainder of the current or next years season. The deposit portion of your hunt can be paid with a personal check, money order, or credit card via paypal.com. For the 2nd half of payment WE ONLY ACCEPT CASH or money order (NO PERSONAL OR COMPANY CHECKS) upon arrival unless you specifically talk to me. When booking a snow goose hunt for two or more days your deposit will be for the last day.
WE HUNT SPRING SNOW GEESE FROM 1/2 hr before sunrise to 1/2 hr after sunset (legal shooting time) or the guides discretion with a short lunch break with the exception of your last day on which you hunt until noon. This allows most hunters the opportunity to drive or catch a return flight home yet that day. Your contact person should call John or I a few days prior to leaving for the hunt.
There has been a lot of spring snow goose hunting hype. From our picture gallery you can se we have many truly amazing days in the field each year. These are the above average days and show the potential. Daily harvests in the teens and twenties are considered average hunts. We are highly successful but we don't guarantee birds. Slow days are a part of hunting and may occur. These are fair chase hunts for wild migrating birds. Things change DAILY and we make decisions day by day. When you book a hunt with us you are paying for access to our fields, use of top notch equipment, and potential.
